Next Evolution close their doors.
It appears CoD4's topdogs, Paradox and his band of merry men, have once again been abandoned by their organisation. Ever since Power Gaming decided to close their doors to PC gaming the outlook for their CoD4 team has looked bleak with few top organisations looking for a CoD4 team. However it looked like the stars aligned for them when Next Evolution appeared on their doorstep, promising full LAN support.
Some at the time questioned the legitimacy of Nevo, a team that appeared to have come out of nowhere, snapping up top teams left right and center. Famous names from all sorts of games and genres were joining the ranks of Nevo, including the likes of Ritch from css, syndereN from DotA and even strenx and spartie from fnatics quakelive team. It appeared Nevo were here to stay, and were looking to make an impact on the gaming scene.
However recent news suggests not all is as it appears behind the doors at Next Evolution. Just over 2 hours ago Felix (a manager within Nevo) released the following statement on the Nevo website;
"We have not been in contact with our head manager for the last 2 weeks and therefore i decided to close it for now. Whenever Zac "Imag" Bell finds the time to reopen Next-Evolution again he can do so. I will not be waiting for this moment.
Im sorry for all our players, managers, coders, writers and followers and i will do whatever i can do make their transition as smoothly as possible.
Bye and keep fragging." - Felix
The CoD4 team was seen brandishing the "who?" tag once again, and are on the lookout for a new organisation to support them. However with a busy LAN schedule ahead of them and no organisation to send them motivation must be on a new low within this promising team, especially with the team being big promoters of the upcoming LAN in Prague. I had a quick chat with Froster to see what their plans where;
"We will pay [for] the Grunex Prague LAN ourselves, if we cant find an org in time but, after that I dont know yet [if we can attend anymore LANs] but we have some time now [to search for an organisation], luckily." - Froster
The question is then, will we see the who? team at any other LANs, and if so under what banner?
For those of you interested I also managed to speak to Felix personally who gave me a little insight on what went on behind the scenes of Nevo, you can find a quick interview on page 2.
