Introduction
With season 2 already underway for the CGa ladder, I look back at cod4's first successful league season.
I don't remember a single cod4 league season having completed successfully. This may be the first. If not, then certainly the largest. There have been attempts in the past though: the short lived success of the ED league ending abruptly as one example. ESL has never quite set foot in season long leagues, preferring tournaments instead. However, the CyberGamer season 1 has proven that cod4
can have leagues, and I'd like to class this season as a success despite the number of drop outs.
In the next few pages I've singled out overachievers, underachievers and flops. Flops are teams that more than underachieved, they're teams that failed to live up to their reputation.
But the biggest flops are teams I don't really mention, because they don't deserve one. Every team that dropped out or folded are the biggest disappointments and losers the leagues had. They've not only let themselves down, they've let the scene and community down in the long term.
Nonetheless, on behalf of VN, we'd like to thank all the teams which have participated and importantly - finished this initial exploratory season. It has been a learning experience for all the staff involved here and for the teams involved too. The season's completion should be viewed upon by everyone as a milestone for the community. Be proud if you took part, won something, earned promotion or even finished it allowing you to play next season - you've earned it!
We've seen some exceptional performances by teams in all divisions. We've also seen some real mares and shockers. Let's check all of them out on the following pages.
