Well Ladies and gentlemen. After looking at the CG Stats... In the past 48 hours only 0 PUGs where completed.

It's safe to say that PUG's are officially dead. Probably due to the increased hacking, leaving, trolling, that was taking place on them... And the inability of members to provide substantial evidence to the CG staff in reports.

I know of this, as I did report a few ragers and leavers, and returned with nothing due to not providing enough evidence.

I respect PUG admins though as they must have received 10s of tickets a day when PUGs were at there peak of about 20-30 a day. Despite one of my tickets going un-answered for nearly a month, I sent a lovely raging message to the admins about it, saying how bad PUGs were.

Now that I've seen that alot of effort goes into maintaining such an active service is actually quite substantial.

But it is sad to see that PUG's have gone dead. Maybe the admins can come together and think of a way of promoting PUGs again. Maybe try and have some Dedicated servers that are streaming Punkbuster ect. To help fight hacks (despite being almost useless). Anything that could get new players into PUG's.

It's just an Idea seen as though you're possibly paying money for a service that is currently not being used.

Another thing is Forum activity. Forums don't seem to be as active as they used to be which in turn is making it harder for people to recruit or look for a team. Tek-9 usually deal with that obviously. But CG is a better community I believe as it's not full of Team Tek-9 Fanboys and trolls. As 90% of Tek-9s users have no reason to be there apart from troll and scream hacks on other players.
CG on the other hand is different, a Large community with attractive ladders for Teams to test there skills either in the CGo ladder or the CGa ladder hoping to hit the CGi ladder. Which is what I like about CG.

Alot of people will think tl;dr but I'm trying to keep these forums alive to stop Tek-9s trolls from eating up the rep of the legitimate gamers out there.

I agree, but PUGs / pickups have always been up and down. When they were launched as #mpuk.pickups, everyone played them for about 2 months, likewise with #vita-nova.pickups and now with PUGs too.

It is a shame that the amazing system is no longer put to use, and I would be more then glad for them to become active again, though I dont have an idea how to revive them.

If anyone has ideas about this - write them in this thread and we will try and make it a reality.

I used to play PUGs a lot, then I got sick of
Quote from ALuzionz:

I found that I was reporting at least 1 player in every PUG (sometimes 3 or 4) I was playing and it was just getting ridiculous, so it ruined the PUG experience for me.

It's not the PUG admins that get the tickets. For some stupid reason it's the higher level admins who usually have more important things to do.

And besides, this pug system is still slow and buggy.

I'd play on them, but I can't do anything to remove a hacker or a teamkilling player immediately since I don't have RCON.

Stuff like that adds up. I guess no-one remembers how active the VNpickups got before 'some' people decided that a web-based service would be better. We had pickups every half an hour or less at that point (not even talking about the start of the pickups, that was really hot stuff).

There's so much cups and leagues that people dont have time to play PUGs. And all tickets do get handled by the admins. Its not as if you need to await the processing of a ticket before you play a new PUG. :p

Whenever I have seen people not follow the pug rules i have always contacted people who are pug admins on my xfire, usually "not as high admins" like weku and vodkzi, and the people got banned. seemed fairly easy to me :p

maybe this problem could also be sorted out by just creating an xfire community in which the admins are listed as online/offline and you can just chat an online admin up who will then resolve the problem, that will surely make the lower admins more accessible.

but like jimmy said i think even the tickets are being analyzed

and like viper said, there are just too many idiots joining the pugs, i think i have only played 1 pug in which everybody was on ts, people were nice on the server and nobody did ******ed stuff. and i dont mean you have to take pugs completely serious, if somebody wants to play with an m14 (which i even consider a really good gun) i dont give a ****, but when people teamkill and flash teammembers its not even worth playing, at least not if these occasions occur on such a regular basis.

I would Play on PUG's again if I had the resources to do something about hackers and rule breakers ect.

It is awfully annoying, and one way to pick pugs up is to maybe try to spread the word to lower skilled players, players who may not even played promod before. If they like the experience then they will play again, Like I did at first.

It started going downhill for me when that Stevy player started. He was the most obvious hacker, and i know of at least 7 people who sent a ticket about him in one game. He got a 6hour or 6day ban [not sure which] but it was so insignificant that he just came back to hack on the servers again,

As for Trolls, There isn't alot you can do about them sadly, people who come on TS with loud music or have got there cat purring next to there mic (Yes I've had that one). Apart from report them.

Xfire community would be nice, only problem being, we still need to bring the PUG BOT back to life. Yes it's buggy, and yes it's slow. But it works when it wants too.

pugs are shit because most of the time only 4 players connect for a team and then people whine about it yet they dont even report them.

servers are shit aswell, no wonder they are free.

A bit harsh OnoD

For a free service to get a match when with other players without having to look for mix is okay. PUG's surprisingly helped teach me GameSense, i learned the rest with my team, but as a place to start, for new players I think PUG's is a great idea

It has it's down, but then again, so do most things... D:

bans double up, the more you report the same player the longer he stays banned
