Social Lan Edinburgh
I have been unable to find any social lans for this year. Me and some other friends wanted to gain some lan experience where we would be able to get a good number of games, before attending the likes of insomnia and epic"X" lans. The lack of lans associated with cod got me thinking and after a little work I believe I could host a successful lan tournament. This is my initial proposal and what I can conform just now.
I have a conformed venue located in Scotland's capital Edinburgh. This central location makes traveling to the event accessible to everyone in the UK, with Waverly train station no more than 10 to 15 minutes' walk and a few minutes by bus to the venue. This also applies to European teams as flights to this beautiful city are relatively cheap. I can also conform that there will be 24 PC's with the ability to play cod4 at 250 fps on 24inch 1080p monitors, so no hassle of having to bring your own PC with you.
The event will host a minimum of 8 or a maximum of 10 teams and will be held over 1 day. Every team will be guaranteed 5 games and the minimum prise fund just now would be around 5 to £600. Although I have to finalise the costs, it would cost no more than £40 per person however it will most likely be less than that. The current plan was to host this event some time during the summer if enough interest is shown.
In addition to these conformations, it was my aim to stream the event to show cases other skilled players within this community. As it is still in the early stages I will try to contact some of the larger streaming organisations within the community to see if there would be any interest, however I would be open to someone who has the energy and personality to showcase this even. I also have a few other surprise ideas in the pipe line for this event too.
Although this event is still in the very early stages, I am confident that if enough interest is shown, I would be able to host an event that everyone would be able to enjoy.
LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
